Title:
Aero-Pursuit by Swarms of Multiple Chasers: Integrating Classical Optimization and AI for task assignments
Keynote Address :
This talk addresses cooperative aero-pursuit, where multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intercept dynamic and potentially adversarial targets. We combine classical optimization methods—including optimal control, model predictive control, and differential game theory—with modern artificial intelligence approaches such as multi-agent reinforcement learning and graph neural networks. While classical methods provide performance guarantees, learning-based techniques enable scalability, adaptability, and decentralized coordination. We propose a hybrid framework that integrates both paradigms for real-time, robust pursuit in uncertain environments. Applications in counter-UAS, defense, and urban airspace security are highlighted, along with key challenges in safety, communication constraints, and real-world deployment.
